Judith's Reading Room, a 501(c)(3) organization established in 2010, promotes intellectual freedom and fosters intellectual curiosity by creating mobile libraries and donating custom-designed book collections to under-served communities who, for any reason, have limited or no access to literature.
Based in eastern Pennsylvania, we actively support not-for-profit organizations in the northeast region. However, we will serve communities across the United States, in particular, and around the world, in order to spark creativity and imagination by providing outstanding literature.
Judith's Reading Room mobile libraries support the idea that every person deserves access to literature, which has the power to transport and transform. Our goal is to provide literacy-rich environments that serve people who are not mobile for any reason, including elderly in nursing homes, urban communities and U.S. military.
Judith's Reading Room serves our nation's veterans by delivering hundreds of books every month to VA hospitals and by providing custom book collections for veterans rehabilitating from PTSD at the Veterans Sanctuary. Judith's Reading Room's "VA 100 Program" sends 100 paperback books EVERY MONTH to VA hospitals wishing to receive book shipments.
We also establish libraries in war zones for active-duty Soldiers.
Judith's Reading Room serves families with children in hospitals and pediatric emergency rooms, where a child's book may be the only happy diversion in an otherwise frightening environment.
Judith's Reading Room plays an important role in donating books to organizations that serve children in low-income neighborhoods, where parents face a number of challenges including substandard housing, an overburdened school district, limited access to libraries and often no books at home.
Judith's Reading Room actively seeks new book donations by appealing to book publishers, by organizing Book Fairs at book sellers, and seeks gently-used books by galvanizing community book drives.
