US Post Office Loses Box of Children’s Books Bound for
Watch Me Grow Learning Academy in Holcomb, Mississippi
Judith’s Reading Room responds & ships 86 more books via UPS
April 15, 2025 — Judith’s Reading Room promised retired RN Joyce Edwards that she would receive 151 brand new children’s books from the eastern Pennsylvania nonprofit to create a first-ever library at her new day care center in Holcomb, Mississippi serving 67 children. Three months later, one box of books is still “missing” in Memphis, TN.
Today, the organization bought and shipped 86 “replacement” books by New York Times best selling authors, sports figures and Chelsea Clinton. The cover price value of these books is a whopping $947. Is it any wonder that low-income families cannot afford to buy their children books?
Judith’s Reading Room is proud to support Watch Me Grow Learning Academy and Mississippi’s children. Today’s donation brings to a grand total 237 books donated valued at $2,384. “We look forward to growing readers and writers around the world and one way to do that is to provide books that spark creativity and imagination,” said Cathy Leiber, President, Judith’s Reading Room.
Watch Me Grow Learning Academy was named Judith’s Reading Room’s 110th library on February 15th and was chosen to be one of 15 new or enhanced libraries to celebrate the organization’s 15th anniversary.
